About Analytical Phenomenology

The aim of the journal

Analytic Phenomenology is a refereed series of original papers in philosophy, edited by Gianfranco Soldati and Fabian Dorsch, with the advice of an international Board of Editors; and published on the World Wide Web by XXX. The AP was founded in the spirit of the Open Access movement, whose mission is to promote a future in which funds currently spent on journal subscriptions are redirected to the dissemination of scholarship for free, via the Internet.

The aim of Analytic Phenomenology is to address topics from the phenomenological tradition in a systematic rather than purely historical way. In doing so it contemplates results obtained both within recent analytical philosophy and phenomenology. The project is conceived as a point of departure for further projects in the same line. It is intended to serve as a basis for the establishment of a research podium in collaboration with other swiss as well as european universities. By establishing a discussion forum in analytical phenomenology one wishes to answer to the growing need of a philosophical inquiry responsive both to the descriptive richness of traditional phenomenology and to the argumentative standards of analytical philosophy.

The journal publishes papers only by invitation, and the selection is intentionally subjective. Analytic Phenomenology is not meant to be yet another journal philosophy, but gets its inspiration rather from the discussion circle of the early phenomenologists, and their foundation of the journal Phaenomenologie und philosophische Forschung (now Phenomenology and Philosophical Research). None the less, we also aim to ensure objective quality of a high standard. Each published paper is subject to a meticulous editorial process and both open and blind peer-review, including extensive commenting by the group of the other contributors to this site. We publish papers which we subjectively like - but only if we are really satisfied with their more objective quality and significance.
